Obituary for Alice Rose Moskalik (Plater)
Alice Rose (Plater) Moskalik, of Minneapolis, passed away on June 18 at the age of 98. Survived by son, Thomas (Linda) Moskalik; daughters, Ann (Jim) Barnett and Susan (Tim) Flynn. Grandchildren, Brian (Karna) Moskalik, Elizabeth (Jimmy) Dodson, Megan (Gage) Hansen, Laura (Rory) Verducci and Tyler (Marie) Flynn. Great grandsons, Cullen and Declan Hansen, Fitz and Charles Dodson and Jordan Verducci. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, and her best friend, George Moskalik; her parents, Frank and Ina Plater; brothers, Franklin, Roy, John and Clyde Plater and her sister, Elizabeth Burke.
Alice and her beloved husband were inseparable soul mates. The love that they shared is what Broadway love stories are about. They were indeed perfect examples of what married life should be. It was easy to see they deeply loved each other. Now they are reunited in Heaven and in everlasting peace.
Alice was an amazing seamstress who could create magic with her needle and thread. A gracious, elegant, gentle powerhouse who barely reached 5 foot tall. She will be remembered for her generosity to all and thinking of others before herself. As Alice went through her many chapters in life, she taught us to age gracefully. Alice dedicated herself to the care of those she loved. She undertook her care for others with gratitude and felt it was her honor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the George and Alice Moskalik Lifetime-Giving Society. The Society was established in 2010 by the Student Legacy Program to honor George and Alice lifetime support of St Thomas and to encourage others to do the same. Gifts payable to the University of St Thomas (with note on memo line, in memory of Alice Moskalik) University of St Thomas., PO Box 64947, St Paul, MN 55164-0947. A celebration of Alice’s life will be held on Monday, June 24, St Olaf Catholic Church, 215 S 8th Street, Minneapolis, 10:30 mass followed by a luncheon. There will be a private burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
