Obituary for David Allen Aljoe

David Allen Aljoe, 71, of Bloomington, Minn. passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at his home. Dave, as he was known by friends and family, was born on Dec. 21, 1947 to David and Myrtle (Nygaard) Aljoe in Detroit Lakes, Minn.

He graduated from Frazee High School in 1965 and continued his education in Willmar at vocational school where he studied accounting and graduated in 1967. His career path took him to Meyers Printing for 35 years until his retirement in 2014. While at Meyers, he first worked in accounting then as an estimator and eventually as a purchasing manager.

In 1967, he met Loretta Larson of Balaton, Minn. in a student center in Willmar. They married on Dec. 6, 1969 and were blessed with three daughters, Michelle, Lisa and Jennifer, who they raised in Bloomington.

Dave adored his family and their pets, never passing a chance to talk about his children and grandchildren or walk one of their dogs. He was always ready to give one of his great hugs, share a moment of his time or pour a cup of coffee. Dave enjoyed traveling and exploring with his wife, Loretta. The two of them traveled locally as well as abroad to Ireland, Africa and Mexico over the years. They even loved to dance as they were part of the "Richfield Squares" square dancing group for many years.

Dave loved helping others by being part of any project. He was generous by volunteering his time with Global Health Ministries of Fridley, Minn. and the "Chore Crew" and various activities at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bloomington, where he was also a member. He will be greatly missed by many who hold their own special memories of Dave and his impact on their life.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta; his daughters, Michelle Scherer (Mike Tartaglia), Lisa (Marshall) Wellman, and Jennifer Aljoe (Scott Mulligan); his grandchildren: Amber Engelke, Dawson Wellman and Brayden Wellman; his sisters, Ilene (Jay) McCluskey and Loretta Ford as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Hensel, as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Floyd and Joyce Larson.
